The weekend

What a beautiful weekend in Charleston.  Saturday was about 75 and sunny.  Sunday was a little cooler, but the sun still shined.

We were two busy kids on Saturday.  I got up, met a girlfriend at my old gym and did a Body Attack class.  It had been a while, so I was definately sore afterwards!  After playing with the two adorable kids across the street, we got to working on refinishing the dresser for the 3rd bedroom.  I am sad to say that I did not get a picture of the "before" as I totally forgot.  But I did manage to get some good in between shots.

The dark has the stain on it we are using-it turned out much lighter.  The other side you can see how gorgeous the cherry wood is!  We really sanded it down well.  Can't wait to show you the finished product

Sunday morning was an early day for Chad.  He got up at 6 am and started putting the poly on the dresser.  After cleaning the house, we headed over to Lowes & Home Depot to look for hardware for the dresser-no luck.  They don't have the sizes we need.  We stoped by Target and I got some great containers to help me organize this mess.

YOWSER!  How did we collect all this crud??  And it went into the smallest cabinet in the whole kitchen!

After throwing away about 80% of all that above, I was left with this workable amount. Dogs stuff on the left, people on the right.

Not bad, right??

The finished product!  Organized and put away!
Now if I could just find the energy to organize my butler's pantry.  Hell, maybe I'd actually find the "butler" hidden in all that mess.  I hope he's ok in there!  :)

I think we are going to grill out with some friends tonight, so that will be a great end to a fabulous weekend.  Now, let's hope next week flies by!  We are going to see Ron White on Saturday and I can not wait!

2011

Hello blogging world. It has been a few months since I posted anything but I am back and will try and do better with posting. 2011 has proven not to be my year so far. 2010 ended with happy news and then came 2011. That news turned out to be not so fabulous.

We started working on the third bedroom as a nursery the moment we found out we were pregnant. It was the most neglected room in our entire house. And probably on purpose. Knowing I wanted to have kids, I didn't see the purpose in doing anyting with the room until we were ready. Why spend money when you don't have to right? So it ended up being a room with a bed and that's about it. I knew right away what I wanted the nursery to look like and Chad got working on it.

When we found out that there was no heartbeat, I figured we'd close that door for a while and not finish the project. Chad kept right on going. And at first it was hard for me to walk in there and see all the love that he was putting in it, but now it is easier. I keep reminding myself that there will be a little Hammond in there one day....just not in August like we had thought.

Each day gets better and sometimes I hit a "roadbump" so to speak and something will remind me of it and make me sad.  But I am able to pull myself out of that "slump" a lot faster.  And I am really proud of all the love, sweat, and tears that my husband has put into this room.  He's an amazing man....I hope you enjoy the pictures of our "one day nursery."

The room right before work got started

Me deciding on a paint color-not this one.

Putting up crown molding

Working on the vertical slats

Chad added a fiber optic ceiling.  400 of these litte guys had to be drilled into the ceiling.

Framed in the window, finished painting all the woodwork, and picked a color

I made the curtains-with Chad's help of course

Another view (I realize the lamp doesn't match)
