Finishings
So here are some of the finishings we have picked for our kitchen. Can't wait to show you the after shots! Hopefully I survive my kitchen being a total mess. Then again....I don't cook-so it should be ok! ;)

Kitchen Before
So we made the decision to renovate our kitchen. We've never loved the corian that the builder picked for our kitchen. It's a gray color and there is nothing gray about our house or our kitchen. It has always been one of those things we've looked at and thought-dang those countertops are ugly. And yes, I know-most people don't even have or care about nice countertops. But Chad & I are different. We love really nice things and after working at Kiawah we WANT really nice things. Call it one of the problems of the job.
So we have saved our pennies and have picked a really cool granite countertop that really fits with the look of our kitchen. We can't wait. Wednesday the granite dude comes and is going to rip out our current countertops and make the template for our new ones. We. Can't. Freakin. Wait.
Above are some pictures of our current kitchen.....Stay tuned!

Really-Feb??
Really? Feb was the last time I blogged for this site? That's crazy. Amazing how life gets away from you.
I am going to make more of an attempt to keep this blog up. Hopefully some fun things will be going on here in the next few months.
Today Chad and I picked out our back splash for our new kitchen and planted bulbs in our patio that we constructed this past spring. So enjoy a few new pictures and I promise-I am back!

Krav Maga Class One
I survived class one of Krav Maga and learned that I am much more passive then I ever realized. Perhaps I just like to learn things first and then get into them, but I definitely have a lot of work to do to be more assertive. (I know that this comes as a shock to most of you!) I suppose I am assertive when I am confident in something and with this class I lack confidence. WORRY NOT my friends and family……if anything, I do enjoy a good challenge especially when it is a “self challenge.”
We will be learning 5-10 techniques of Krav Maga in this 6 week class however there are more like 75-100 moves. Seeing as we can’t learn that many in such a short time, our instructor is committed to teaching us these 5-10 moves very well.
What I struggled with was the yelling. (This surprised Chad-I didn’t realize I yelled??) J Anyhoo-you have to yell when you kick/punch/flatten someone’s face like you mean it. And by mean it, I mean like if you could kill with your tone and words. If my life depended on it last night I would be dead-I just couldn’t harness any anger to yell like that. Instead I laughed. Not a good thing in this class apparently.
I was told that my technique was excellent with my kicking, punching, defense of being strangled. I guess three years of my body combat classes at Golds Gym finally paid off.
My homework this week is to learn how to go to a dark place where I can grab that anger and relay it in my tone. Mom-I know you and Daddy are coming this weekend-so you might want to bring ear plugs. I am going to practice “NO-GET BACK-STOP” Get ready! J
Again, this is my first class, but I really think EVERYONE should attend a class like this. Not only is it a great workout, but you are learning how to protect yourself. And in a world as crazy as this one is, $85 doesn’t seem like a lot to spend for self safety.
I’ll keep ya posted on my Israeli military style training for the next 6 weeks and share some tips along the way.
This week’s tip:
When kicking a dude in the groin, you want to make sure your foot goes between his legs. A man’s nature reflexes are to throw their butt back to protect their “goods” You want to kick him with the area where your foot and leg meet. This way when he throws his lower area back, you are still able to make contact and he can’t grab your foot.
Love to all…..

Charleston Krav Maga
I am excited to say that I have signed up for a 6 week class called "Charleston Krav Maga".
Krav Maga is the official self-defense and fighting system of the Israeli defense forces and is favored by US law enforcement agencies. This wholly unique and original method was developed and refined during years of conflict. Krav Maga emphasizes easy to learn techniques that have been battle tested in real, life threatening confrontations.
This program is designed not only teach you how to protect yourself and your loved ones, but also to get you into the best shape of your life.Although Krav Maga shares many techniques with other martial arts, such as karate, boxing, savate, muay thai, jujutsu, judo, kobudo and wrestling, the training is often quite different. It stresses fighting under worst-case conditions or from disadvantaged positions (for example, against several opponents, when protecting someone else, with one arm unusable, when dizzy, or against armed opponents). Unlike Karate there are no predefined sequences of moves or choreographed styles; instead Krav Maga emphasizes rapid learning and the retzev ("continuous combat motion"), with the sole imperative being effectiveness for either attack or defensive situations.
Wish me luck.........

Corporate Meetings
Imagine yourself on Kiawah Island for not only family vacations, but small corporate retreats. Our home on Eugenia Avenue is a great spot for corporate meetings. Allow yourself to be pampered by our Concierge team while hosting your company's meeting in our home. Just seconds from the beach and minutes from 5 championship golf courses our location is the perfect spot for a little R&R for your employees. With all of the press on companies spending money in hotels, rest assured that your company outing will not be "in the press." Most hotels advertise what companies are staying in their hotel on their reader boards. All of our guests' information is kept strictly confidential.
We can help you set up catered meals, hire private chefs, and even bring in local AV companies for your presentations. Call us today to find out how we can make your next small corporate outing a success. Visit us at www.vrbo.com/230630 for rates and availbility. We look forward to helping you strenghten your business in 2010.

Was supposed to have house guests...instead I updated my house
My mom, grandpa and dad were supposed to visit this weekend. Sadly my dad got sick with a kidney stone. I decided to hide my disappointment with retail therapy. Instead I got sticker shock at the end of the weekend......the cheapest purchase I made this weekend was for supplies to paint my second bedroom. Straight stripes are not my specialty. Thank GOD Chad was around this weekend or else, it might have been waves in the second room and not stripes.
