Small Steps

We've been busy with work and also my parents being in town, so we didn't make much progress in the bathroom.  (And by we, I mean Chad b/c there's not much I can do on this project other than interject my much "appreciated" opinion)

My parents had their own little mini vacation at The Sanctuary from Wednesday to Friday and then they slummed it  stayed with us for Saturday night.  Here's a couple of cute pictures:

KSB is not gonna be happy her pic in a bathing suit is on the internet!!

And this weekend I may of gone back and forth on whether or not I actually wanted to spend any money on the downstairs half bath.  But after telling Chad to load up his truck and return the tile, I told him to unload the truck, I wanted to keep the tile.  I might have gotten a big "EFF YOU" look from the hubby.  OOPS.  :)  Good thing he loves me.

So we  Chad started the bathroom tonight and so far it looks great.  I decided to keep the color we painted it two years ago and just add the tile and the vessell sink/vanity.  I love it so far.  Hammond does good work dontcha think?

Chad's still working on the vanity.  We are missing the drawer in this pic...Slacker... hahaha

New project

We purchased this great "old" looking new piece of furniture from Home Goods-score for $150.

This puppy is going into the 1/2 bathroom downstairs with a copper vessel sink on top-similar to this look (I am using a decorative bowl for the demonstration)

So sure-the project could stop right there, but that wouldn't be a Hammond project now would it?  We thought about possibly painting the back wall with a suede paint look and then repainting the remaining walls a blue color, but I wasn't sold on it.  I really wanted something different (wait for it!)
Option one-nahhhh-Just wasn't doing it for me.

I had seen these great tiles at Lowe's and just knew that either one would look awesome on that back wall (with surrounding walls painted that pretty blue color)  So now I am trying to decide which tiles I like better.  I am leaning towards one, but which would you pick?

A little bit of this and that

Hammond and I took Friday off together and started off the weekend early.  We thought we'd take the boat out with the dogs so that it wouldn't be the typical crazyiness on the water.  Mother Nature had another idea for us.  Can you say small craft advisory.

So plan B was I cleaned the upstairs while Chad cut the grass-watch out excitement!  We took the dogs for a walk in this great park not too far from our house.  See this tree-who do you think climbed it?  And I'll give you a hint-it walks on four legs and is quite the sassy dog.

Yep, this doggie climbed up that tree and without a lot of coaxing from Chad. She trusts waaaaay too much.  All he did was say "squirrel" point up the tree and away she went.

Hmmm...I might be up higher than I should..

But Daddy did say there was a squirrel

Stupid Daddy-no squirrel in this tree...

After a walk in the woods, we went over to Home Goods in Mt. P and found the perfect piece for our downstairs 1/2 bath.  And now a new project begins.  It started out just being a new furniture piece with a vessel sink and now it has become a complete bathroom re-do with tile and paint.  Sigh.....why are we so difficult??!!!  So more to come on that later this week.

We went and say Harry Potter in IMAX 3D.  That was my first 3D movie and after I got used to it, I really enjoyed it.

Saturday I helped a good girlfriend organize her place and then we went out and got new curtains and accessories.  It looked so good by the time we were done.  Should have took pictures, but we were too busy.

Now I am just waiting on this evening.  A group of friends are meeting to say goodbye to our buddy Chris who is venturing out to the Domincan Republic.   I'm excited, because that means I have a new awesome resort to get a discount at. :)

Random things I am loving....

I just got the recent issue of Viva Terra, a really great magazine dedicated to green living. Right away the cover caught me. I don't know what it is about roosters, but I heart them. A lot. In fact I have one in my kitchen on top of my cabinets. And I heart him too. He's so darn cute. And there really isn't anything country about my house, but just looking at the rooster makes me want to move out to the country and own an old farmhouse.

Ok, back to the magazine. Here's the adorable rooster from the cover:

And the proceeds go to a great cause too!

I am loving this mirror too, although I am not sure where I would put it. Maybe it would look good in my guest bathroom upstairs.  I also love the dining console too, although it might be a little too rustic for my dining room.  But I still think it is really nice....
How about this backyard?  Could you not just picture yourself here sipping on a nice Firefly cocktail?  Only thing missing is a pool.  Then it would be perfect!
