Hurricane Irene

It appears as though we have really lucked out this go around with Hurricane Irene (THANK GOD!), however, on Monday things weren't looking so good.  I went to Walmart (apparently I only go there when hell is freezing over a category 3 hurricane is coming) and went a little bonkers buying dry goods.  In the four years that we have lived in this house the pantry has hardly ever had food in it.  Now it is stocked with soup, mac and cheese and enough "hurricane essential" junk to choke a horse.  (I better start boot camp again)  Once I got home and realized that the pantry really was an unorganized mess, I deceided it was time to make that pantry more presentable.   I was on such a roll that I emptied out all of the old stuff in the refridge too.  Looks like I need to go to the grocery store and re-stock the fridge.

Before

After (Still needs some tweaking)

Pathetic
Chad also decided that because a hurricane MIGHT be coming, he most certainly needed a blow torch.  Not sure exactly how those things go together, but it made him happy.  Boys.....
Does he not have the sly look of a 5 year old??!!
Watchout Hurricane Irene, you come to Charleston, Chad will scare you away with his....blow torch?

Weekend in review

Chad and I had a great weekend together.  We went to dinner at Seasame and then a movie on Friday night.  Horrible Bosses was pretty funny-I'd give it 7.5 stars.  Jennifer Anniston is HAWT people, smoking HAWT.

Saturday, Chad surprised me with a double kayak.  I had said a few times in passing that I'd like to learn how to kayak and that stinker pulled up Saturday morning after coming up with an errand he had to run.  Apparently our kayak had been shipped and he went off to pick it up.

We put the kayak in just down the road from us at the dock and off we went kayaking down the Ashley River.  I better end up with some rocking arms from this!

Sunday we had a check in and afterwards we threw the kayak in the Kiawah River and went for a little trip.  Kiawah Island is absolutely gorgeous.  I am spoiled-100%

Hotlanta

Wednesday and Thursday I was down in Atlanta for the 2011 PGA Championship.  Kiawah is hosting the 2012 and I am on one of the planning committees, so I was invited down to meet with my counterpart and take part in some of the festivities.  I am not sure what happened to my brain after walking in the front doors of the club, but I totally forgot to snap any pics of the golf course.  Maybe it was because I was having fun with my all access pass, or maybe b/c I was too darn hot.  Anyhoo-I did remember snap two pictures.  Not the best, but eh, whatever.

Sike-make that three pictures.  This was one side of the Media Center and it was pretty amazing.  I think we counted over 200 computer terminals.  An IT Director's worst nightmare I am sure.

Day two and I really didn't feel like going back to the tournament.  You had to take a bus from the hotel and busses make me gag, so my buddy and I went shopping in Atlanta.  "Official Business"  Yeah...something like that.   Is it still called playing hookey when you are 31 years old?

I toured my first "The Container Store" and by george that place is pretty amazing.  I had heard before that it was cool, but experiencing it first hand was pretty neat!  There is something in there for anytype of storage you could need.

Perhaps future inspiration for my super messy pantry?

A cracker box!!  What??????

A lot of GORGEOUS wrapping paper

Happy Birthday Cooper!

We celebrated Coooper's 11th birthday on Monday!  We hope you enjoyed your "Frosty Paws" peanut butter ice cream. I know your sister Savannah sure did.  Happy birthday buddy.  We love you!   (We made an "attempt" at a family picture.  Didn't really work out so well....)

It's my birthday-may I have another?

"B" Room udates

As in "bathroom" and "bedroom"........

First up in the "B" room update is our downstairs half bath.  We Chad finished up the bathroom on Sunday morning.  (Right after working 14 hours on day 6 of our work week-who said the weekend was for relaxing?)  I love love love how it turned out and am glad we went with the slightly more expensive tile.  It was in the end exactly what I had envisioned.

We also purchased new curtains for our master bedroom.  The small office off of our bedroom didn't have curtains and I wasn't sure I wanted them, but it seemed like all of the outside sound came through that room.  Chad thought if we added some curtains, it might help drown out that noise from outside.  (Our bedroom is up front so we hear everything)  I wanted to add some color to the room as our walls and old curtains were similar in color.  I pulled the blue from some of the decorative pillows on the bed and Chad helped find blackout curtains from JCPenney's.  They really do have good deals on curtains by the way.  We added new decorative rods too and it really changed the look of the room.  Oh and notice the pictures up around the side of my dresser.  I blogged about that a week or so ago but never posted pics.

You can sort of see the old, caramel colored drapes on the left

Now if I could just figure out a way to nag talk Chad into shutters.  HELLO HAMMMOND-DO YOU LOOK AT THIS BLOG??  :)  Love you!!
